Welcome To Fasewon
MYRNA FAHIE
Come and join me on a journey through my art work.
I am a self-taught artist, although it was my only ambition at school many moons ago, family intervention prevented me from taking up the place offered to me at an art school. I have made many attempts through marriage, bringing up a family and full time work to practice as much as I could and to learn through trial and error. Since retiring I have been able to take up my art work full time. I use all mediums, oil, acrylic, watercolour, gouache, pencil, printing, etc., and match the medium used to the subject and the mood I wish to create.
I attended evening classes in mixed media and life drawing for several years but gave this up when I started 6 years of study with the Open University for a degree covering the history and philosophy of art combined with a course on Shakespeare and also theory of music. I found the most fascinating thing about the degree was how much the arts intermingle with each other to produce a "language" which is universal to all. I was so pleased, having returned to study later in life, to obtain a BA Hons. for my hard work.
I am currently Chairman of the Mersea Island Art Group but will retire from this position at the end of 2020 having been Chairman for several years. I am also a member of Mersea Island Artists, and Colchester Art Society. I still attend courses as my philosophy is - you can always learn something more whatever you think you already know.
I have exhibited and sold in many local shows, and with the Colchester Art Society. I have also been successful it getting a work selected by the Community Choice Panel for the Eastern Open at Kings Lynn in 2012. A couple of years ago I had two prints shortlisted for the RA Summer Show but unfortunately not hung on that occasion.
I hope that in 2021 I will be able to open my studio on 3 or 4 Saturdays for the sale of art works and a myriad of craft work.
My website contains paintings, sketches, prints, and handmade crafts, I hope you will find as much enjoyment in looking at my work as I have had in producing it.
